Palau staircase Dénia Castle takes shape in the final stages of restoration

The restoration of the stairway of Palau Vell Dénia Castle They are progressing well. After months of work, and you can guess what the final result, which will allow visitors to relive the experience of walking the stairs disappeared after years of neglect in the main monument of the city.

A high percentage of the steps are already covered, failing to finish the stairs and paving the top where the Palau Vell is located. From the archeology department of the City of Dénia they estimate that the work will be completed next March.

The work is being led by archaeologist Josep Marqués and his team, working since last April 2016 to recover one of the great values ​​of the history of Dénia.

The main objective of this action was to get the ladder in T, a construction that can currently only be found in Denia and El Escorial; and linking the forecourt of the Governor to the top of what was the Palau Vell. He explained during the presentation of the project of the architects, Elisa Moliner, "visitors will be able to have the experience of the space that was at some point touring the original union of both spaces".

The total cost of the works amounts to 891.770 euros, 666.827 by the Ministry of Development thanks to the 1'5% Cultural grant; and 229.943 euros by the City of Dénia.
