Santa Lucía, a lawyer for vision problems, also has a corner for herself in Dénia. It is one of the so-called “De Conquista” hermitages dating back to the 1708th century and with subsequent remodeling between 1812 and XNUMX.
It is a one nave building, rectangular whose interior is divided in two by a central arch of rough pointed out that can be seen in buildings of this era. His most treasured possession is a chalice of the second half of XVII century on the image of the saint is. Outside you can observe the buttresses constructed masonry technique.
The main facade is taken by the gateway, a door of semicircular arch with ashlar and keystones and crowning the facade, a small bell tower made of stone.
Location
The hermitage is located in the Natural Park Montgó, about 2,5 kilometers from the city center, in a very quiet area of a residential area that can be accessed by bicycle, on foot or by car, since there is no public transport to the hermitage.
To access there are two very simple ways:
The first access is next to the Nursing Home St. Lucia. We can park the car in the parking lot of the residence and see before us a huge stone wall. Following this wall is a qualified way, and about 50 meters is the chapel. From this access we reached the esplanade of Santa Lucia, where already sighted the small building.
To take the second itinerary we will start from the port of Denia, looking for the road to Les Rotes to the Port Dénia Hotel roundabout. Once we reach that roundabout we will take the first exit, follow the path for about 200 meters and turn left, and 50 meters ahead, turn right again. Following that path, the Camí d'Aranda, we will look for the Montgo and we will always go upwards until we reach the Santa Llúcia road on our left, the same road that leads to the Alfa & Omega school. It is a narrow road but does not pose any obstacles for vehicles. At the end of the path, behind some pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation, we will find the hermitage.
