The Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community, with the collaboration of the Dénia Town Hall, has organized a solidarity donation day at the Social Center on Thursday 17 September. The hours of the collection are from 9.45 am to 13.30 pm and from 17 to 20.30 pm.
In this new day of collection it is expected to receive a good response from the citizens of Dénia, which in each call shows their solidarity. And this is supported by the figures provided by the Center for Transfusion. During the past year, 1.081 donations were registered in the successive collections held in Dénia. So far in 2020, the total donations in the city amount to 767, which translates into a 7,3% increase in the donation rate compared to the same period of the previous year.
A very necessary gesture if one takes into account, according to the data of the Transfusion Center, that the province of Alicante needs 250 units of blood daily to be able to cover the existing health demand, especially for services such as Oncology or Emergencies.
The organization hopes that the results of the collection on September 17 will contribute to this upward progression in the number of donations.
Remember that to be a blood donor you must be between 18 and 65 years old and weigh more than 50 kilograms.
