Grimalt presents the project of the Museum of Memory to the Minister of Democratic Quality

The Minister of Participation, Transparency, Cooperation and Democratic Quality, Rosa Pérez Garijo, has met with the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and representatives of the municipal corporation, in a meeting in which they have presented a project that will recover the old municipal slaughterhouse to turn it into a Museum of Memory.

The Regional Minister for Democratic Quality has highlighted the importance of this initiative that "adds to the democratic memory policies that are being carried out in different parts of the Community", to which she added that "it supposes to give a boost to the itineraries of memory, not only from the point of view of democratic memory but also from the heritage and tourist point of view ".

For his part, the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, thanked the minister for this meeting in which "we have dealt with issues related to transparency, citizen participation and democratic memory." In this sense, it has announced a project for the recovery of the old municipal slaughterhouse related to historical memory, "a building that we must recover for citizens, providing it with a cultural and museum infrastructure for Dénia."

Participation and transparency

Likewise, Pérez Garijo has presented different projects of the Ministry in terms of participation and transparency such as the new Portal for Citizen Participation of the Generalitat "a pioneering tool that allows citizens to present proposals, debate and make allegations to the regulations that are approved by the Valencian Government ".

The Regional Minister for Democratic Quality has also highlighted the role that municipalities will have in drawing up the first participatory budgets of the Generalitat, where collaboration between all administrations "is essential for participation to be real and useful."

In turn, Pérez Garijo has referred to the importance of developing actions related to transparency because "we want citizens to be active in knowing what the administrations do; we do not limit ourselves to complying with the transparency criteria established by law, but rather further and we rank as the first autonomy in the ranking that Dyntra draws up in this matter ".

At the end of the meeting, Pérez Garijo and the municipal government team traveled to the old municipal slaughterhouse to visit the area of ​​the town where the Museum of Memory will be located.
