Read in gastronomic key is a cycle of conferences and activities organized by the Mediterranean Gastronomy Center - GASTERRA with the collaboration of Turismo Comunidad Valenciana, City Hall of Dénia, The Office of Innovation and Creativity - Dénia Creative City of Gastronomy by UNESCO and the Municipal Library of Dénia with which it is intended to publicize literary works where gastronomy is the protagonist.

This cycle kicks off the 10 day in April with the presentation of the work Alicante Gastronomy, facsimile edition of the works of José Guardiola Ortiz, 1972-46.

It is a work that is part of the gastronomy collection of the publications service of the University of Alicante, fruit of the efforts of three professors from the University of Alicante - Josep Bernabeu Mestre, Vanesa Cortés Serrano and Eva María Trescastro - to try to recover the figure of a great gourmet of the early twentieth century, José Guardiola y Ortiz, known by the pseudonym of a cook in the rear.

"Alicante gastronomy" is a tribute to the figure of Guardiola with which he reissues one of his works published two years before his death. This reissue allows a fair recovery of his figure as a profound connoisseur of Alicante's cuisine and a precursor to many of the key issues that revolve today around national and local culinary studies, such as the promotion of healthy habits based on Mediterranean and native diet and the main role of gastronomy as the economic engine of a region.

The work will be presented by the co-author and director of GASTERRA-UA-Dénia, Josep Bernabeu Mestre, accompanied at the table by Lucia Signs, director of the Municipal Library of Dénia, Josep Forcadell, director of the Publications service of the UA, Ángeles Ruiz, gastronomic journalist and member of GASTERRA and chef Evarist Miralles.

The presentation will take place at the Dénia Municipal Library, on San José Street, no. 6, on Wednesday 10 of April at 20.00 hours.
