27 September 2022 - 09: 58

Emotional tribute lived this Saturday at the Dénia Social Center in memory of the actor Álvaro de Luna, who died four years ago. The family surrounded themselves with neighbors, friends and colleagues from the entertainment world to recall the "love story" between the actor and the people.

The renowned actor chose our city decades ago, "a jewel that nature has given us", as he himself said, to reside for long periods with his partner Carmen Barajas and their daughters Andrea and María, also present at the recognition that the City Council of Dénia organized in the auditorium of the Social Center of the city.

And over the years, and due to his way of being, -«natural and close», «great from the simple and with great intelligence», «always very aware of friends», «great conversationalist», «modest person who displayed a glue of affection that united everything »- according to some of his closest friends, he ended up being a de facto Dianense, who went down to the center every morning with his motorcycle, bought at the Municipal Market and then sat down on Diana street to wait to his friends – the writer Manuel Vicent, Pascual Olmos, the former basketball player Juan Antonio Corbalán, the businessman Ignacio Calderón, Salvador García and many others who joined this ritual of words and company – to share a gathering.

All these personal and intimate aspects of De Luna, and also his professional career, are shown in the audiovisual that was screened, made and edited by Toni Reig and Romu Soler, with the image of Pablo Caulín, in which Alfonso Ungría, director cinema; Manolo Matji, screenwriter and film director; José Manuel Cervino, actor; Cristina Sellés, businesswoman; Ignacio Calderón, businessman; Juan Antonio Corbalán, former basketball player and cardiologist; Antoni Espasa, economist; Manuel Vicente, writer; Pascual Olmos, economist; Fernando Ledesma and Javier Moscoso, jurists, and also the actor himself.

Songs and anecdotes

His figure was also present in the gathering that they held on stage, recreating those that he liked so much and that they shared so many times, his friends Ignacio Calderón, Juan Antonio Corbalán, Pascual Olmos, Alfonso Ungría and the singer-songwriter Luis Pastor. The latter, accompanied by the voice of Lourdes Guerra, sang some of his compositions, selected for the occasion by the De Luna family.

The journalist and writer Toni Reig, co-author, among others, of the book Dénia, ciutat de cine, was in charge of introducing and leading the gathering: a conversation in which the love, admiration and longing with which his intimates remember him.

Carmen Barajas, accompanied by her daughters, received from the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, a sculpture by the Dianense José Luis Saldaña dedicated to De Luna, of whom he was also a neighbor. The words of Barajas, «Dénia has brought me the most absolute happiness with Álvaro», and of her daughter Andrea were one of the most emotional moments of the night. President Puig also revealed his admiration and esteem for the actor and his family, stating that "he was one of us, really."
