The Dianense restaurateur Pepe Piera dies «El Pegolí»

Today, one of the drivers of the red shrimp and the gastronomy of the region has passed away at 76 for years. We talk about José Piera Pucholl, better known as Pepe «El Pegolí».

Pepe Piera has been one of the most important names in the gastronomic culture not only of Dénia, but of the entire region. His specialty was the prawn and the band band, but highlighting his character and closeness, which led him to be named Adoptive Son by the municipality of Pego.

Dénia has witnessed the generosity of «El Pegolí», to whose town hall he donated a large collection of archaeological pieces at 2016. You will always be remembered as a close person in love with the culture and society of the Marina Alta.

The funeral will take place tomorrow August 15 at 17: 00 in the Parish of San Antonio de Padua in Dénia. The burning chapel is installed in the Tanatorio de Dénia.
