The Consell approved, last Friday, in plenary session, the decree by which the regulatory bases are approved and the aid of the Valencian Community Travel Bonus Program to stimulate the demand for internal tourist services in periods of seasonality given the negative socio-economic effects caused by COVID-19.
The purpose of this decree is to approve the regulatory bases of the direct aid of the program. This consists of incentives for the demand for tourist services provided in the Valencian Community in periods of seasonality, thereby seeking to alleviate the economic and social consequences generated by COVID-19 on the Valencian tourism sector and prolong activity and employment.
Specifically, this decree includes the registration criteria, the requirements and adherence of accommodation and travel agencies, the requirements of the tourist services that are the object of the aid, as well as the requests for aid, and the budget allocation.
The Valencian Community Travel Voucher Program will begin on October 20 and individuals who, being of legal age, are registered in a municipality of the Valencian Community and enroll in the program will be able to benefit from this aid. Each individual may only request one grant for each of the periods collected.
Discounts up to 70%
The program Viatgem CV was presented to the tourism sector on Saturday morning, a program that includes the tourist voucher that will allow residents of the Valencian Community to obtain discounts of up to 70%, the maximum amount being 600 euros, in trips and tourist experiences in destinations of the Valencian territory.
The program will start on October 20 and will last until December 31, 2021. The endowment is 14,3 million euros, of which 4,3 million will correspond to the 2020 financial year, and the rest to the two stages in which The program will be supported in 2021, from January 1, 2021 and ends on March 24 and from October 13 to December 31, 2021.
Thus, the bonus program is extended until the end of next year, one more quarter than initially planned to accompany a fundamental sector for the Valencian economy, since it accounts for 14% of GDP and 15% of employment.
Agreement with the Ministry
The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has also announced that it has reached an agreement with the Minister of Tourism, Reyes Maroto, to promote the implementation of safe tourist corridors between the Valencian Community and the main European countries.
In parallel, the Generalitat and the Ministry will also expand collaboration with Valencian tourist municipalities to become sustainable and smart destinations.
