Enric Nomdedéu, General Director of Labora, assesses in Dénia the future of the 4-day working day in the Valencian Community

February 15 from 2023 - 13: 29

Compromís yesterday held a new edition of the open coffee with an institutional representative of the coalition, where he invites the public to participate to find out what has been done and what they want to do in a specific area. In this case, the appointment was with Enric Nomdedéu, regional Secretary of Employment and DG of Labor, to talk about job creation that, according to the candidate Rafa Carrió, “along with the fight against climate change, the strengthening of public services and housing is a political priority of Compromís”.

During the meeting, Nomdedéu reviewed the actions of the Labora service that he directs in the Generalitat, which with 12.001.315 euros allocated to Dénia since 2015 has managed to benefit 1.663 people.

The regional secretary stressed that "the top priority of the Ministry of Sustainable Economy directed by Compromís has been to protect working people and the Valencian productive fabric, with the necessary resources and with an agile service such as Labora that appeals to humanization and territorialization of employment policies. In addition, he pointed out that Dénia has 413 fewer unemployed than in January of last year and that at the regional level "the figures are positive and should rejoice", since "it had been 15 years since there were not so many people with work in the Valencian territory".

Future keys to Valencian employment

In this sense, he commented that he will continue to bet on policies for the creation of quality employment, for the promotion of the hiring of young people and the long-term unemployed, indefinite hiring of functional diversity and people at risk of social exclusion; as well as aid for entrepreneurship and the self-employed; territorial aid projects and micro-enterprises; for professional training; or subsidies to local corporations for hiring, among others.

Finally, there was also talk about the commitment of Compromís to reduce the working day to 32 hours, which has already been implemented with aid to companies that wish to move towards this production model. According to Nomdedéu, "a model that improves productivity, the environment and people's lives without harming companies". He reiterated that "companies with this working day are already seeing results" and that "we know that the proposal is different for each sector, it is a voluntary measure and it is in the hands of each company to decide how to compact the weekly working hours".
