In June 1987, the Dianenses went to the polls to elect their mayor. 11.751 people voted, which, taking into account that the population at that time was 22.636 and not all of them voted, represents a participation of 73,78%. This, to a certain extent, was due to the irruption of Gent de Dénia and the Democratic and Social Center, and meant the loss of two PSPV councillors.
