The PSPV meets with AEHTMA to continue working for tourism: "The vast majority of associates are very happy with the pedestrianization of Marqués de Campo"

May 11 from 2023 - 13: 16

A representation of the Socialists of Dénia met yesterday with the president of Aehtma, Cristina Sellés, and some associates, "to learn about their concerns and along what lines we can continue working in collaboration to improve the tourism sector and the city", in the words of Vicent Grimalt, Mayor and Councilor for Tourism and Socialist candidate for Mayor for the May 28 elections.

They also attended the meeting Mr. Josep Ripoll, Councilor for Territory and Urban Quality, Javier Scotto, Councilor for Citizen Security, and Pepe DoménechCouncilman Beach. All of them members of the socialist list for the municipalities.

From the meeting, Grimalt has highlighted that «in general terms, according to what they told us, the associates are satisfied with the work done by the government and the collaboration with the City Council is fluid and agile; they know that they have our telephone number and at any time they can call us to solve a problem that arises”.

The number one of the PSPV-PSOE Dénia candidacy has also highlighted «that we share a vision of the future for Dénia and its tourist potential. Without losing sight of the fact that it is our main economic asset, we are all clear that we want to continue growing, but in quality and sustainability, two issues in which we have already made a lot of progress, as well as in deseasonalisation”.

«They even told us that the vast majority of Aehtma associates are very happy with the pedestrianization of Calle del Marqués de Campo and encouraged us to continue along this line of improvement in the city, for those of us who live here and for those who they visit».

There was also talk of the tourist tax "and I reiterated what I have already said many times," Grimalt declares: "that we are not going to apply it while we govern. It is not viable for the tourist model of Dénia ».

The representatives of the socialist candidacy also took advantage of the meeting to explain some of the points of the new government program, which highlighted the projects planned with the subsidies obtained from the Next Generation funds to develop the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans (a total of 6 million euros). «What we do always say is that we are not going to promise things that we know we cannot fulfill, as others do. We offer facts, not smoke.

I never understood people who disagreed. You walk through Marqués de Campo, you enter this store, the other and the others there. You sit on any terrace watching people go by and not the cars. In my case, going by car on the way to work conditioned me not being able to enter a certain store because I could not park and I ended up in the Ondara shopping center... Denia has a wide range of shops. Let's use them!!!

"...in which the projects planned with the subsidies obtained from the Next Generation funds to develop the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans (a total of 6 million euros) stand out...."

That is the only thing that interests them, inventing stories to justify the movement to certain pockets of those 6 million euros.
