The PSPV responds to the new SEP statement that seeks to "discredit" the performance of the Santa Lucia residence against COVID

COMMUNICATION FROM PSPV

Obviously, the data from the analyzes of COVID-19 in wastewater suppose, in addition to being useful for many other issues related to public health, "vital information for occupational safety and for taking measures to prevent risks."

For this reason, these data, which Aqualia provides to the city council, after consulting with Public Health, it was decided to make them available to the competent health authorities in the management of the pandemic: the authorities that know how to analyze, assess, communicate them and those who can help in decision making. The aforementioned analyzes are carried out in different parts of the city in order to provide Health with relevant information on the evolution of the incidence of COVID-19. This is not a specific action for the Santa Llúcia Residence and, therefore, it is not the responsibility of either the city council or the center's management to make the data obtained public.

To guarantee the safety of workers and users of the residence, the most effective measure has been adopted, and that established in the health protocol: the periodic performance of PCR when the situation requires it.

Precisely, because it is extremely irresponsible to extrapolate conclusions without any professional or scientific criteria, as the SEP does now when linking data from a certain moment (moment in addition to the high general incidence of the coronavirus) with an outbreak.

To avoid incurring in irresponsible actions and deductions like these, which could generate confusion, alarm or even a fictitious confidence according to the data, the Dénia City Council chose to make the information available to Health. Conselleria and the Department of Public Health are the competent bodies in this matter.

Once again, an attempt is being made to discredit a residence that, paradoxically, has had an exemplary track record during the pandemic, and we deeply regret it.

But once again, the answer is immediate and forceful: because every decision made in the center is the result of the professional judgment of the people who manage and work in it, not the improvisation that does seem to govern the actions of a union determined to blur, with baseless accusations, the great work that is done in Santa Llúcia.

This is the residence where the City Council has tendered some works to "a trustworthy company" that is pocketing public money to lower costs. Those responsible for the Residence denouncing it and the City Council looking the other way. There they show how much the Residence matters to them.
