Los Populares denounce that the Dénia City Council has approved a 12% rise in the rate of garbage, which will imply that the rate becomes, for homes, 140 euros / year. This rise represents an increase of 15 euros per home for next 2022.
José Antonio Cristóbal, popular councilor, states that, «despite the attempts to try to hide as much as possible this rise, saying that it will only be 15 euros per home in 2022, citizens will have to pay a receipt of 140 euros of garbage along with many other increases in services and taxes that we are all suffering, given the economic situation of the country.
Los Populares insists on their vote against said measure despite the fact that finally the government team, with its absolute majority and with the support of Compromís and Gent de Dénia, has approved said increase in the past extraordinary plenary session.
According to the formation, the economic situation with high unemployment rate and slow recovery, as well as the "high fiscal pressure" have motivated them in their decision. In addition, they describe as "high" the increase in the degree of coverage of the garbage tax. "The PSOE has decided that citizens pay practically the entire service. If the City Council assumed what it has been assuming for years, it would not be necessary to increase the rate under any circumstances. And it is not only in the case of the garbage fee. This government team does not carry out studies necessary to find the possibility of reducing taxes and fees for citizens. On the contrary, it increases the fiscal pressure ”, says the PP.
The Populares emphasize that this rise could have been avoided, as they communicated with a motion presented to reduce the costs of all municipal services, “a motion that remained on the table and was not debated thanks to the PSOE. Instead, he prefers the fast track. Force the citizen to bear the full cost of the cost of garbage. A way of acting that unfortunately is very expensive for us and that shows, without a doubt, the terrible management of this government team ”.
As indicated by the popular councilor José Antonio Cristóbal, “this is not the time for increases in the tax burden on citizens, but rather to lower taxes and fees for families in order to increase their capacity to consume and save, precisely because of to be the ones most in need right now ».
