The new FP center "Gent de Mar" in the port of Dénia: what it will be like and what educational offers it will have

29 March 2023 - 14: 52

The Dénia City Council has published today the project of the new Gent de Mar Integrated Vocational Training Center that will have educational purposes. The mayor of Denia, Vicent Grimalt, the councilor for Territory and Urban Quality, Maria Josep Ripoll, and the mayor of Education, Melani Ivars, have presented the project today, giving it shape and providing images of how it would look.

The center, as Ivars has explained, will be located in the current car park in the Raset area, in the port. Ripoll, for his part, has ensured that the plot of some 6.000 m² will house a building equipped with a library, common multipurpose room, psychological office, warehouses, concierge, and an administrative and secretarial area, in addition to tutorial rooms, teachers, AMPA , student associations and visitors. While outside, around the 4.000 m² built, landscaped areas, a car park, porches and outdoor circulation will be installed.

The construction will have educational purposes, which will be linked to three study areas: maritime-fishing, commercial and marketing, and administration and management. It is estimated that the building, with a useful area of 3.700 m², will have a capacity of 570 places for students.

The drafting of the project and the assistance have had a total cost with VAT of 2467.556 euros; while the execution of the work has a budget of 9.238.177 euros (VAT included).

building design

The councilor for Territory and Urban Quality wanted to show the distribution of the future building through a 3D plan; In it, you could see an interior patio of about 700 m², an access with a large atrium in stands and the location in the central area of the multipurpose classrooms. The façade will have dimensions of 85 by 48 m and 9.5 m high, and it will be made with differences in surface texture and in two colors, which translates into the duality that defines the coast, water and sand. This will use ventilated ceramic to avoid heat.

The gardens will function as lighting and ventilation patios for the central classrooms and recreation area on the ground floor. As Ripoll has explained, the project seeks the entry of the maximum possible natural light into the classrooms, which will enter from two different sides. In addition, the mayor assures, an effort has been made to create an "attractive environment" building.

What educational offer will it have?

The Councilor for Education, for her part, has explained what the educational offer will be like in the future center; consisting of "3 professional families with different courses within".

Maritime-fishing

  • Medium degree of maintenance and control of machinery of ships and boats.
  • Higher degree of organization of the maintenance of ships and boats.

They will have 2 multi-purpose classrooms, 3 specific spaces for maintenance of machines, electricity and fluids, 1 simulation room, 1 maritime safety classroom, 1 first aid room and 1 fire-fighting area. These facilities will be located on the ground floor due to the specific needs of the large machinery and the facilities required for the studies.

Commerce and marketing

  • Basic training degree in commercial services.
  • Intermediate degree in commercial activities.
  • Superior degree in sales management and commercial spaces.
  • Higher degree in marketing and advertising.

They will have 3 multi-purpose classrooms, 2 specific workshops, 4 technical trade classrooms and 2 specific marketing classrooms and an outdoor display.

Administration and management

  • Basic training degree in administrative services.
  • Medium technical degree in administrative management.
  • Higher degree in administration and finance.

They will have 2 multipurpose classrooms, 3 administration workshops and 2 administration and management classrooms.

Grimalt has commented that at first it was thought of locating the cooking and gastronomic studios in Gent de Mar, but they will remain in the CDT to "take advantage of the existing infrastructures". In the same way, he has explained the incorporation into the new space of degrees already present in Dénia as a way of "reducing congestion at Maria Ibars and Chabàs".

How does the process continue?

After this presentation to the media, the next step, according to Ripoll, is to send the basic report to the educational community so that they can present their contributions to the project. Once the report is finalized, it will be sent to the Generalitat so that, if accepted, the delegation of powers takes place, proceeding to the approval of the project and its tender.

Parallel to this process, as Grimalt has commented, the procedure for the concession of the plot must be carried out with the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, and its subsequent assignment to the Ministry of Education.

The construction of the new center will be financed by the 'Edificant' program of the Generalitat Valenciana.

  1. Elizabeth Aragon says:

Building that mass that is supposed to educate is nonsense, next to the entertainment venues and fairs and gastronomy it is 7n nonsense, in addition to the demotivating landscape for the alleged students. It should be located around the university buildings or in a depressed area of Denia to revitalize. I don't know which "genius" would have come up with such barbarity.
Better dedicate yourselves to projecting a decent bus station, the current one is unfortunate, both due to its location and lack of services.
    Finally, think a little.

  2. Gonzalo Lopez says:

BUT…. What are the advantages of building an educational center next to a tourist area and in the center of the port???
I only see disadvantages: less parking areas, an expansion area for tourist attractions or even a service area for the port….

After having taken the Balearia to the other area of the bay and mistreating the travelers, just like in the new bus station…. Now another nonsense.

A monkey with a target hits more than these rulers...

  3. José says:

So many landscape integration studies that ask to get construction permits for the houses and now they don't ask for it because it is their pharaonic work????

Politicians caziqueando no more, Denia is their farmhouse and that's how they treat things

  4. Alf says:

Dear Pepa, can you imagine that you are a tourist or a walker and you find yourself with a similar mazocote in front of the sea?
That, if the students are in class, that during break hours... well, that.
Everything in its place and the planning must be analyzed outside of electoral campaigns. Then what happens happens.
The esplanade at this rate will cease to exist. While they have been buildings for several years, only with their foundations, unused and giving an old image of the city.
    regards

  5. the village says:

We don't want this building facing the sea

  6. Julian says:

The law of coasts here we pass it by

  7. Victor says:

I would put it on a platform over the sea; posts to give ideas of firefighters

  8. Tony says:

In addition to its location seeming nonsense to me, it is still a project for electoral purposes. What has he achieved in his years as mayor, Mr. Grimalt?

  9. Pillar says:

    The Path of the Elephants!!!

  10. Alf says:

    Interesting, expand the educational offer.
However, it does not seem reasonable to place a building with these characteristics and functions on that plot.
The walk will surely be filled with students, mixed with walkers and visitors.
    Parking spaces are reduced.

There are plots in Denia more withdrawn from recreational activities that seem more appropriate for an educational center. It would have to be seen if it can be linked to the area of the university center.

The students have to be focused on their own and it does not seem that next to the beach, and so on, is the most advisable.
    regards

  11. CARLOS says:

The truth is that putting that tome in front of the beach and dunes means that it is not integrated into the little that remains of the authentic fishing district of Denia. The Baleària station and its cement SUPERPASSARELA are already out of tune enough, please, place this necessary educational center in one of the many places in Denia that need to be activated, the port is already activated and help other neighborhoods and businesses to grow. HELP!!! NO MORE ARCHITECTURAL ABERRATIONS IN PROTECTED SPACES!
Paradoxically, when it comes to renovating a house or small house in the Barrio Marinero or Roques, our City Council requires, in order to grant a building permit, to replace it with wooden windows and not PVC and imitation wood, you cannot remove the stone because they consider that it is not a natural element, you have to spend months of procedures and reports from architects of the Generalitat and Culture or you cannot leave the terrace completely open but for landscape reasons there must be one with tiles.
Anyway! Integrating that mass into the Barrio Marinero in and of itself is already impossible. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up running for some other kind of interest. (Would be the umpteenth contradiction).

  12. Mark Lane says:

A disaster to have such a large modern building on the seafront promenade restricting the views and openness, surely this type of facility would be better located elsewhere in Denia.

  13. Dani says:

They should make the Auditorium Theater there.
The port is a cultural zone.
Saioa García Gironés would know what to do.
She has good legs, a good figure and a shaved reproductive system.
He also has good clothes and has a voice that is pleasant to hear.
It can be found on Linkedin.
    Study at María Ibars.
Really, she is worth as mayor.

  14. Bill says:

Why build an oblong box, of no architectural merit, to blight the view of the port/sea from Carrer Bellavista when there are already redundant sites around the town that would benefit from redevelopment? The intersection of Carrer de Patricio Fernandez and Carrer Carlos Senti being a good case in point!
