Today the Market presents a new face. The hundred people who regularly go to do their shopping in that space have come across an impressive mural of 828 hand-crafted tiles, which form a picture of the port of Dénia in the 50s, with the castle and Montgó in the background.

The fish shop has woken up with this image, that of a work "spectacular" which hugs the most sailor positions. The mural is the result of the works of planning of the conditioning of the Mercat Municipal, with which a wall of enclosure was created that requested a work that embellished it. "The idea of going beyond and taking advantage of that large canvas to work on other Mercat ideas came up", counts the councilman Javier Scotto.

In this way, the City Council achieves its objective of enriching the building with a cultural work that they want to include in the city's heritage. "A window to look out for who wants to contemplate what remains in the retina of the sailors. Contemplate the port of Dénia, its castle and the omnipresent Montgó. An undoubtedly very unique performance that will make the Municipal Mercat not only a space to buy, but also a space of coexistence, culture and enjoyment of its visitors ", declares the councilman.

The mural has been the work of the craftsman José Manuel Tos, a native of Manises but residing for 4 years ago in Jesús Pobre. A lover of Montgó who accepted the project without thinking about it. Four months of nerves, developing daily with their own hands the mural that represents the 3 emblems of the city, port, castle and mountain, and that since today has become itself an emblem of the market.
