The Juan-Gil Albert Institute of Culture of Alicante begins this September its program of activities in the different regions of the province with a new talk of the cycle 'Discover a Work of Art'. On this occasion, the session will take place in the town of Dénia and with it there will be a recognition of the painter Domingo Llorens Cervera.

The proposal will be developed tomorrow, Wednesday, September 8 at 19:00 p.m. at the Dénia City Hall and will be led by the expert Jaume Sau Moncho, who will give a conference on the oil painting 'La Caridad' in which he will publicize the trajectory Dianense painter and the historical context in which his work was developed.

The vice president and deputy for Culture, Julia Parra, has indicated that “with this series of meetings it is intended to value and recognize our artistic heritage, in this case, through the conference led by Jaume Sau, renowned researcher of the artist and of his legacy".

Domingo Llorens Cervera (1827-1905) was a painter for the Denier bourgeoisie in the last third of the 1867th century. Disciple of Vicente López and painter of Felipe VII, he moved between the academicism of his teacher and a more naturalistic painting. He devoted himself mainly to portraiture, but without neglecting religious themes. In XNUMX he obtained the Silver Medal with the work 'La Caridad'.

Jaume Sau Moncho has a degree in Art History from the University of Valencia. He completed the Master in Cultural Management at the University of Valencia and the Polytechnic of Valencia. He has worked in the Dénia Archeology and Museums Service and in the Gandía Archaeological Museum (MAGa). He is currently a culture manager at the Ideari Cooperativa company and is conducting research on the painter Domingo Llorens Cervera to preserve his legacy.
