Dénia Hospital brings together the cancer associations of the Marina Alta to present their rapid oncological circuits

The Manager of the Department of Health of Dénia -DSD-, Javier Palau, has brought together today the main associations against cancer in the Marina Alta to inform you about the rapid cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment circuits available in the Marina Alta.

To the meeting, which took place this morning in the Council Chamber of the Hospital de Dénia, have attended representatives of Amunt against Cancer, Valentes i Positives, Jávea Cancer Care, Tots sumem against cancer of Benidoleig and the Spanish Association Against Cancer -AECC- of Ondara.

The manager of the DSD thanked the representatives of the patient associations for their presence and underlined that "in the health department there have been rapid pathology circuits that cannot be delayed since 2017. However, he added, we are working on improving the processes oncology, incorporating new technology and indicators for the most frequent neoplasms”.

In addition, Javier Palau has announced the creation, at the end of summer, of the figure of the nurse case manager, who will be exclusively in charge of monitoring cancer patients. Also, and at the request of patient associations, the Manager of the DSD has committed to creating a review circuit for cases of neoplasms whose diagnosis and treatment may have taken longer than established in the current protocols.

For her part, the Medical Director of the DSD, Dr. Patricia Martín Rico, has explained the procedure of the two great "fast tracks" active in the health department for the pathology that cannot wait. The first is the Rapid Oncology Circuit, which deals with localized tumors; while the second is the Rapid Circuit for Non-Delayed Patients or High Resolution Consultation, which treats any non-delayed pathology, with no obvious location, oncological or not.

In both cases, the Department of Health of Dénia undertakes not to exceed 8 weeks between the confirmation of the positive diagnosis and the beginning of the treatment.

    We congratulate all of us who suffer from this terrible disease that consciences begin to move and provide means to facilitate our lives even a little because almost every day new treatments are released to combat cancer throughout the world that can save only in Spain thousands of lives and for that you have to be permanently connected.
    In addition, we must contribute all the existing technology to improve our quality of life, demanding that everyone who governs us, central government, autonomies, councils, city councils, contribute their grain of sand and formulate a national plan to stop this terrible disease. ,thanks to all.
