The Government blocks all option of the port of Dénia to be autonomous

03 December 2021 - 07: 03

Only a week after the Dénia City Council insists, once again, on claiming the consideration of the Dénia port as an autonomous port, using the tools that the Generalitat itself provides, the Consell has shelved said motion and any option to have any autonomy.

Motion, again presented by the municipal group of Ciudadanos, demanded that Dénia have an autonomous port to be able to invest all the income in the port infrastructure of the capital of the Marina Alta. In July 2020, the same petition backed by all parties was already presented. Now it has been insisted again, but the path of this claim has been short.

In the Finance committee held in Les Corts this Thursday, the Government has decided to shelve the motion of the City Council. Therefore, Dénia is left with no option to decide to invest the money generated by its port as it best suits the city.

After this jug of cold water, there could be the option of being satisfied with the reinvestment fee of 40% of income established by law. Something that should be fought since in Dénia it is not being fulfilled, as it is still pending to receive € 1.475.313 from 2019.

However, from here the neighbors receive the second blow, because in addition to denying the autonomy of the Dénia port after so much time of trial and error, now the Government has ended the obligation to reinvest that 40% in any port of the Valencian Community. An amendment has been approved to put an end to said reinvestment, so Dénia not only has no option to choose how to invest 100% of the money generated by its port, but now it will have neither voice nor vote to return to the city the more it suits you not a single euro that is generated in your facilities.
