Last Saturday, the Dénia Rugby Barbarians Marina Alta starred in an exciting match against the locals of Elx in a match that was crucial for the Dianenses after having suffered three consecutive defeats in their previous matches.
The match was characterized by a balanced start, with an intense fight in the center of the field, without clear dominance by either team. The tension was palpable and both teams demonstrated fierce resistance. However, in the 26th minute, Dénia achieved the first try at the hands of Daniel Crucieru, after an excellent combination of the three quarters, leaving the score at 0-5 without the transformation.
The entry of fresh players on both sides maintained the intensity of the match. The Barbarians kept the momentum going and soon after, young Othmane scored again, bringing the score to 0-10 at the end of the first half.
After the restart, Elx sought to reduce the difference and managed to score points in their favor within a few minutes (3-10). Responding to this advance, the Barbarians added another try through Franco, converted by Joel, extending the lead to 3-17.
The local Elx team managed to score a converted try in the 65th minute, getting closer on the scoreboard (10-17).
With time almost up, Dénia stood firm and Franco added another try, converted by Joel, to leave the final score at 10-24. To culminate, in the final moments of the match, Eliott scored another try, also converted by Joel, leaving the final score at 10-31.
This victory keeps the Barbarians in sixth position in the league, preparing to face Albacete next Saturday at 17:00 p.m. at the Tio Luis Rugby field at the Dénia Sports Center.
As for the lower categories, the S16 team of the Dénia Rugby Barbarians Marina Alta achieved a crushing 55-0 victory against Elche, while the S18 team lost by a tight 12-13 against Alicante.
Next Saturday, the S16 team will travel to Valencia to face CAU in a friendly match at Campo del Río at 13:00 p.m.
