The Dénia Festival de les Humanitats debates on the "commitment to the territory" in its spring edition

29 March 2023 - 09: 32

On the morning of Tuesday, March 28, l'Androna Multiespai, located in l'Espai Lluís Vives in Dénia, was the scene of a meeting between several companies that showed their support for the Valencian territory and the twelve media that are part of the Association of the Valencian Regional Press (APCV). During the event, topics of interest to the region were discussed and important links were established between the participants.

'Arrels' Forum of Companies Commits to the Territory, included in the program of the second edition of Dénia Festival of the Humanities, has been organized by the APCV, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Dénia Creative City of Gastronomy Foundation, sponsored by the Valencian entities Caixa Ontinyent, EnerHi and Balearia, who have had a prominent role in the event, and with Rolser as a collaborator.

Those in charge of initiating the meeting were Santiago Sanchís, president of the APCV; Lydia del Canto, current director of ESG at Baleària; Benito Mestre, president of the Business Circle of the Marina Alta (CEDMA); and Pere Rostoll, General Director of Information Relations of the Generalitat Valenciana. All of them have shown their gratitude to the participating companies and have shared the same reflection: the importance that the regional press continues to have today as a backbone. Likewise, they have encouraged the work of the Valencian press to continue its daily task to convey to others what is happening in the Valencian territory, despite the recent advance of factors that may hinder the growth of this press, as is now the digitization. «This has given a lot of uncertainty to the local press, but let's not forget that this profession will not be done by machines. It will be the journalists who go out into the streets and tell what is happening, “said Rostoll.

Subsequently, the dialogue table on 'Family businesses and communication companies in the territory' took place, led by Alejandro Escrivá, director of the Family Business Chair of the University of Valencia; and Ferran Belda, former director of Levante-EMV and promoter of the regional delegations; and moderated by Mariví Pardo, director of Portada.info (Villena). On this occasion, the reflection has revolved around family businesses that, in accordance with their lines of work and action, are committed to the areas where they move and their people. Issues such as the centralization of the media, their ability to distinguish between information and advertising, and the link between family businesses and their environment have focused on the great work carried out by family businesses and local media, but, above all, on what still remains to be done.

The second discussion table in the morning was introduced and moderated by Luis Peidro, director of El Nostre (Alcoi). Under the name 'The commitment to the territory', Vicent Ortiz, Head of the Secretariat and Social Work of Caixa Ontinyent, has presented the different ways through which this unique Valencian savings bank works for the development of its community. Similarly, Josep Mascarell, director of CSR and Innovation at Baleària, has articulated his speech around the shipping company's roadmap: «comply with and respect Human Rights». Thus, he has defended the importance of maintaining this corporate social responsibility "because this demonstrates the awareness of knowing what a company means." Finally, Benjamín Martínez, project director of EnerHi, has used his space to describe the way in which the renewable energy company works to respond to the three great needs of today's society: "climate change, energy sovereignty and territorial balance. Thus, Martínez has joined that common objective of commitment to the territory.

The third and last table, moderated by Juanjo Clemente, director of Revista Poble (Vila-real), has been for three companies with more than 50 years of life each: Rolser, production of articles for domestic use; Aquaclean Group, dedicated to textile innovation; and Unión Alcoyana, an insurance company. Taking advantage of her extensive career, with the name 'Durability and fidelity of a business project', Paquibel Serve, head of the Rolser sales department; Lola Vañó, director of Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety at Aquaclean Group; and Enrique J. Rico, CEO of Unión Alcoyana; They have become a clear example of how to extend and maintain this social commitment to workers and society over time.

The morning of debate was closed by the words of Rafael Climent, Minister of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Commerce and Labor, who expressed gratitude for the involvement of the participating companies and gave the respective recognitions to each of the participating companies. in the Forum.
