The second vice president and Minister of Housing and Bioclimatic Architecture, Rubén Martínez Dalmau, has met with the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and municipal government councilors to study joint actions that help solve the problem of access to housing in a municipality “So stressed by tourism”, in the words of Martínez Dalmau.

The Minister explained that it is a town with problems that make it difficult to exercise the right to housing. Among them is "the lack of a public park and being an area stressed by the tourist pressure and the housing conditions themselves", which make rents very high.

Given this situation, possible formulas have been analyzed to increase the public park and try to lower the price of rents that the vice president has described as "hugely tall" and that make people "have to allocate to them a very important part of their income".

In that sense, Dalmau highlighted at the meeting the importance of the concept of scoring and retraction to increase the public housing stock. He has announced that the Generalitat plans to approve in about two months "a decree of assignment of powers so that the municipalities can exercise this right and incorporate housing from foreclosures or protected housing into the municipal public park".

Another of the topics analyzed in the meeting have been the particular cases of housing emergency in Dénia. The Second Vice Presidency and Department of Housing has committed to the repair of several floors available in the city to make them available to the city council and make use of them to respond to these needs.

On the other hand, the vice president has also referred to the Catalog of Land for Protected Housing of the Community (Casolhap), presented last Thursday, as an information tool related to the land available in the Community for the construction of housing with some type of public protection. An instrument that "can help us promote housing" also in Dénia.
After the meeting, Dalmau has shown his satisfaction because "We have laid the foundations to solve the housing problem in Dénia, which is very similar to the problems of other coastal cities in the Marina Alta".

For his part, the mayor thanked the visit of the second vice president and the "impulse that the Generalitat is giving to deal with the serious housing problem we have and work together to give a solution to the families that are having such a bad time, especially in the area of rent".

On his first visit to the city as second vice president of the Consell and conseller, Martínez Dalmau has signed in the book of honor and has received from the mayor a copy of the facsimile of the Title of City of Dénia, distinction granted by King Felipe III in 1612
