The year that is about to end has been difficult for everyone. The sports field has not been less. The director of the Fishing section of Marina El Portet de Dénia, Niko Lenarts has given an account of what the season has ended, and the most remarkable thing is that the club has a champion from Spain, since in the month of October Francisco José Piñero, better known as Pachi, obtained the title in Valencia.
As explained by Lenarts “COVID-19 has turned everything upside down, and that has made 2020 a year in which there have been fewer activities and few fans to enjoy the sea and kayaking. We close the year with the hope and hope that things will improve substantially next year ”.
The predominant trend of the season has been the suspension of a good part of the planned tournaments, so the club considers that things should go for the better for 2021. In fact, work has already begun on the future project . In the month of June, the Spanish Championship for Clubs is scheduled to take place in Dénia. The Open Castell de Dénia would also return, which would foreseeably be held in September. It is intended to establish a new tournament -which had been planned for 2020 and had to be suspended-, this is the Valencian Community Interclub Championship, where eight clubs from the Valencian Community have grouped together and which will foreseeably take place in the month of November.
Without abandoning the hope of improving the situation, the club has started its campaign to attract members for another year and invites those who want to share an exciting sport such as kayak fishing to join its ranks.
