At CEIP Llebeig they consider Diversity, in its broadest sense, as "a source of wealth and a learning opportunity". For this reason, over the last few weeks different activities have been carried out in the center related to the celebration of the Day of Cultural Diversity (May 21).
From the RETO program, the students have come into contact with the concept of Cultural Diversity through different stories adapted to the ages of the different levels and have made a large mural-collage with photographs of the hands of the boys and girls in groups.
"Variety is pleasure", "To tastes, colors", "Variety is the spice of life"... They say that proverbs contain popular wisdom that has been passed down from one generation to another thanks to the oral tradition, word of mouth. "Nothing like the protagonists explain it to you", which is why the Llebeig have decided to create a Human Library. A socio-educational project for education in values and diversity through positive references from the immediate environment. To this end, they have had the collaboration of the "book people", Raquel Heredia, Mario O. Passero, Gen Roth, Iván Aledo, Françoise Crespo, Jimmy (from the Condemned to Curb Association), and Lola Ivars, who narrated their life experience to the students. The boys and girls listened carefully to their stories, being able to empathize and actively participate in dialogue.
And as they say that words are carried by the wind, as a physical reminder of the activity on Tuesday, May 17, they filled the Tree of Diversity with words, ideas and many wishes for a fairer and more respectful society with Diversity, «because differences enrich us and respect unites us».
