CD Dénia criticizes the lack of an agreement with Dénia Youth Football Club and threatens to move its youth academy to another location.

El CD Dénia has issued an official statement to present its version of the events regarding the conflicts with the Dénia Youth Football Club, in which it has been involved due to the agreement that the latter maintains with the Dénia City Council. According to the statement from the CD Dénia, this situation has limited their ability to establish a quarry structure in the city.

The meeting, held on April 9 between the general manager of CD Dénia, Roberto Colom, and the president of Fútbol Grassroots Dénia, Juanjo Palacios, aimed to address the problems that have been dragging on in recent seasons. At the heart of the dispute is the exclusive power that the agreement grants Fútbol Grassroots Dénia to create teams from the Benjamín to the UXNUMX category in the municipal facilities. This, according to CD Dénia, has hindered its ability to grow socially, athletically and economically.

CD Dénia's proposal and Dénia's negative response from Fútbol Grassroots

In search of a solution, CD Dénia proposed an offer that would include "Hand over control of our Senior B and Juvenil C teams to FB Dénia, review our bylaws regarding membership admission criteria, establish a membership agreement, and invite FB Dénia players to attend first-team matches free of charge with their membership card."In return, the club requested the possibility of "Create two teams in Dénia per category, from junior to cadet."However, the response from Dénia Youth Football Club was blunt: "No.".

The CD Dénia statement indicates that the main obstacle to reaching an agreement is not sporting, but personal. According to the club, the president of Fútbol Grassroots Dénia, Juanjo Palacios, acknowledged that "The main obstacle to reaching an agreement stems from the animosity generated over the years by its board of directors toward our president Juan Benavente, sports director Toni Lledó, and secretary Jonathan Lambert.". In addition, CD Dénia states that the priority of Dénia Grassroots Football is that "The people who currently run this club should leave, and if that means blocking the club's growth, they are willing to do so.".

Economic inequalities and the right to grow

In its statement, CD Dénia defends that its proposal is "fair and just", and underlines the economic differences and structural differences between the two clubs. While CD Dénia has only five teams, of which only the 60 players of the three youth teams pay a membership fee, Fútbol Base Dénia has "Nearly 380 boys and girls in the youth system, all of whom pay, and receive €186.000 in public subsidies.". Despite this disparity, CD Dénia claims that it has been "denigrated by his own board of directors" for its economic management, while preventing it from developing a structure that would allow it to grow.

In the statement, CD Dénia expressed its frustration at having to make these statements at a crucial time in the season, with two vital matches against Tavernes and Carcaixent. Despite the situation, the club insists that "Respect for our fans and responsibility to our members compel us to explain the truth clearly and without reservation."In addition, CD Dénia has offered free entry to these matches to the youth players of the Dénia Youth Football Club, a proposal that was also rejected.

Finally, the CD Dénia statement concludes with a warning: if they are not allowed to develop their base structure in Dénia, the club would not rule out "to take our grassroots structure to another nearby town that wants to host it"Despite the difficulties, the club reiterates that it will continue "Defending the right to grow and to proudly represent this city. No matter who it may concern.".

Gentlemen at Denia.com: Do you know anything about the situation between the school and the club? Or are you just repeating a statement and relying on a single source? Do you know that the conflict is being brought to court and not due to "defects" or "irregularities" at the school? Do you know what happened at the club's last meetings? This seems to me to be a poorly researched and quite biased article. Let's see if you can inform yourself, investigate, and do better next time. Best regards.
