This year the celebration of Carnival in Dénia, the event is changing and is betting on a new format: a big children's party on the Torrecremada esplanade, which will bring together more than 28 girls and boys from Infant and Primary schools from the city's various schools on Friday 10 February between 30:13 and 30:1.400.
The Festivals and Education departments, in collaboration with the management teams and teachers of the educational centres, have organised this new proposal that aims to bring the festival closer to many more children.
"In Dénia, the idea of Carnival has always been that of a children's party, because we all know that the reference point in the region is Pego and young people and adults usually go there," explained the Councillor for Festivals, Raúl García de la Reina"So this year, and given that participation in the Saturday afternoon activities was not massive, we have taken a further step to transform the party into a real celebration for the little ones."
In 2021, after the pandemic and for security reasons, the Department of Education organized Carnival-related activities in schools "and it was a success," the councilor recalled. Melani Ivars"This year, the schools have once again responded very well to this new proposal, which will now allow all the children from the different centres to celebrate the holiday together."
On the other hand, this change of date and format also aims to avoid the coincidence of the celebration of Carnival in Dénia with the Fallas brotherhood meal, which will take place on Saturday, March 1. "And, in addition, the infrastructure for the two events, in Torrecremada, will be the same: stage and sound," said García de la Reina.
The area will be closed and guarded to ensure maximum security and toilets will be installed. Schools must confirm the school groups that will participate and the space will have elements to delimit each center.
On stage, an inclusive sea-inspired animation show will invite children to have fun for around three hours with music, dancing, acrobatics, theatre, contests and many surprises.
