A building with history

The history of the space where Els Magazinos is located goes back to the sixteenth century, when the Duke of Lerma was Lord of Denia, being visited by King Philip III on three occasions. The picture that 1613 painted Vicent Mestre of the expulsion of the Moors from the port of Dénia places part of the story: after the customs of the port appears a building where today is located Els Magazinos, the denomination with which the French of the War of the Succession called this old port warehouse.

The art historian Ángel Campos-Perales proved that Felipe III had built a building to house the royal carriages and carriages at the same location on Calle Pont. It was one of the infrastructures with which the monarch wanted to tell during a next visit to Dénia.

Later, in the 19th century, this building was a warehouse for raisins, and with the arrival of the 20th century, it housed the workshop of the toy factory of José Monllor.

Its new stage, the gastronomic and cultural market under the name of Els Magazinos, will open its doors to the public next Monday, 29 in April, at 19: 00 hours.
