Work has started to eliminate the problems of stagnant water and algae at the mouth of the Girona River. The City Council of Dénia has begun cleaning the remains of posidonia from the mouth of the River to prevent the course of the river from being blocked to the sea.
As of September, the City Councils of Dénia and Els Poblets will execute the creation of a natural barrier of boulders at the mouth, as was done two years ago, to prevent the collapse of the mouth caused by the accumulation of algae and the consequent bad smell and insect concentration problems.
