This Friday, Dénia City Council welcomed the actor from Dénia, Óscar Lasarte, who was recently nominated for the Goya for Best New Actor for his role in Is it the enemy? Gila's film.
"Being nominated is already an award for me," Lasarte said. "There are a lot of films and being chosen among five nominees is a lottery."
The beginnings in interpretation
The actor explained in his meeting with the media how he got started in acting. His inspiration was his grandfather Pepe Cascarra, who did magic tricks and also acted as a hobby. "My grandfather was a bit of a Gila, he took tragic things with humour," he said. In addition, he has also looked to Monty Python, the Marx Brothers, Robin Williams and Jim Carrey as comedy references throughout his life.
The native of Dénia soon began to put on shows at the Centre Social, La Mistelera… and later went on to perform in cities such as Benidorm, Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona. Always carrying his roots with him, Lasarte has thanked the “warmth and affection” with which Dénia has received his projects: “It is the city that has seen me grow as an artist.”
The recording process
As for the Is it the enemy? Gila's film The actor has highlighted the involvement of Miquel Gila's daughter, Manuela Gila, who even helped finance the project in the early stages. "She was at the script reading in Bilbao and when we finished we ended up crying. When we got back to the hotel, she was heading to her room and said to me: 'Good night, dad'. I got emotional and replied 'Good night, daughter'."
The Dianense has described the filming as "intense" due to the weather conditions, including cold, wind and rain: "What the Basque Country has," he joked.
He also explained the "responsibility" that embodying the historical character Miguel Gila entailed: "In the end, everyone has him in mind. What gave us a bit of an advantage was that we were not narrating the life of the well-known Gila, but of that young Gila about whom we did not know much, since there is nothing documented about him at that age. So, we played with the creative process and it was very difficult to know where to take the story and be assertive. In the end, it was something that turned out to be credible and natural," explained the actor.
As for upcoming projects, Lasarte has revealed that he is working on a Movistar Plus series under the title The Center"I'm very happy," the actor concluded.
Oscar has infinite talent and his performance in the film IS HE THE ENEMY? is more than extraordinary. I wish him a great career in life in which he never loses his essence, which is his roots.
Head forward, Oscar!!!
