With a positive balance of 8'7 million euros, the Dénia City Council has declared the municipal budget for the year 2017 liquidated. This has been announced by the councilor for finance, Paco Roselló, who has announced that a part of this surplus, specifically 2,8 million euros, will be destined to the payment of outstanding invoices and other 5,5 million euros to the repayment of loans.
The remaining 400.000 euros will be consigned to financially sustainable investments that the municipal government will announce shortly.
Likewise, the settlement of last year's accounts leaves a positive treasury surplus amounting to 10.392.208,47 euros.
Decreases current spending and increases the collection of indirect taxes
Roselló explained that this positive balance is due, among other issues, to the fact that current expenditure for the year has been 10% lower than initially forecast.
As an example, the cost of electricity was initially budgeted at 1.270.000 euros and, closed the budget year, it was 1.084.000 euros. The same has happened with the expense in postal items, which was expected in 90.000 euros and has been 78.000 euros. Likewise, financial expenses have been 13% lower than what was initially budgeted.
It is also worth noting the significant increase in the collection of indirect taxes. In the ICIO concept, 600.000 euros were initially budgeted and finally 1.435.000 euros were collected. The same as with building permits, with an initial forecast of 600.000 euros income and a final collection of 1.200.000 euros.
