The City Council approaches ecotourism in the Marina Alta

The Department of Ecological Transition of the Dénia City Council organizes a new edition of "Discover the landscape", the program of guided tours by agri-food producers from Dénia and the Marina Alta.

From January to June this 2020, almond, olive, orange, vineyard, cherry, wheat, rice, carob, plum, lemon and vegetable fields from the towns of Dénia, Sagra, Alcalalí, Teulada, Jesús Pobre, have been scheduled. Vall de Gallinera, Pedreguer and Pego.

12 producers from the region participate in the initiative, 70% of whom do organic farming or zero waste. The participating producers and producers work on unique projects and are the SAT Labradores de Alcalalí; the Sociocultural Association of Riurau and the Les Freses winery (Jesús Pobre); the Cireres Muntanya Cooperative in Alicante (Vall de Gallinera); the Teulada Cooperative; La Bacorra (Sagra); Brewery of the Marina Alta (Dénia); Horta Sana (Pego); Pego Natura; Pont Sec restaurant (Dénia); Hort de l'Alè (Pedreguer) and Diana Femenía Giner (Dénia).

All visits will leave at 9.30 in the morning from the House of Culture of Dénia. Registration and travel by bus from Dénia to the towns where the activity takes place are free.

Those interested in attending must register before noon on Thursday prior to each visit by sending an email with personal data to deniaviva@ayto-denia.es. Participation will be confirmed according to the order of registration. The number of places is limited.

The program "Uncover the country" has among its main objectives to promote knowledge and dissemination of agriculture, local farmers and farmers, local environmental resources and responsible use of the territory; value the products of the garden of Dénia and the Marina Alta; bring citizens closer to natural areas of interest through a tourism modality that respects the environment: ecotourism; publicize the social benefit of natural spaces and the need for their conservation and enhance sustainable rural development, through the involvement of various agents in the territory.

2020 Calendar of Discovering the Country

  • Sunday January 26: Sagra and Dénia. Visits to La Bacorra and the Cervecería de la Marina Alta.
  • Sunday February 23: Alcalalí and Teulada. SAT Labradores de Alcalalí and Cooperativa de Teulada.
  • Saturday March 28: Denia Pont Sec Restaurant, urban gardens and Diana Femenía Giner.
  • Sunday April 26: Poor Jesus. Wheat from the Marina and Les Freses winery.
  • May 30 Saturday: Vall de Gallinera and Pedreguer. Cooperativa Cireres Muntanya of Alicante and Hort del Alè.
  • Saturday June 27: I hit Horta Sana and Pego Natura.
