A German fugitive is detained in a Dénia establishment

The National Police have detained two people in the province of Alicante for establishing European Order of Detention and Extradition (OEDE), one of them brought by the German authorities and the other by the Romanian justice.

Agents from the Denia Police Station received information about the presence in the town of a person who was allegedly on the run from Germany and about whom an OEDE was weighing to be extradited to that country.

The investigating policemen began to make the first inquiries of where this person could be. Different points were discarded, until they managed to locate him in a hotel in the city. Immediately a security device was placed around the accommodation, and in a few moments, the person claimed by the German authorities was arrested. The arrested was wanted after having been sentenced to one year in prison for driving without a license.

On the other hand, Police officers belonging to the Benidorm Police Station were informed thanks to information offered by the Sirene office (Supplementary Information Request at the National Entry) whose main competences are developed in matters of Euroorders, that a person of Romanian nationality and who was A fugitive from such justice since 2014 he could be residing in said locality.

For these reasons, various controls were established at the entrances to the possible areas that this person could frequent. Within a few hours, the device took effect, and several agents located the alleged fugitive when he was trying to evade one of the controls, after briefly chasing him, he was arrested by the police. The arrested person is wanted as the alleged perpetrator of a fraud that he carried out in 2013 for a value close to € 200.000, and for which he faces a sentence of more than two years in Romania.

Both detainees, 55 and 68 years old, were placed at the disposal of the Central Investigating Court of the National Court in guard duty, which will be in charge of processing the European Arrest and Extradition Orders.
