Arrested in Dénia when trying to introduce 23 kilograms of hashish in the Baleària destination to Eivissa

The Civil Guard of Alicante has arrested the driver of a tourism that was trying to board from the Port of Dénia, transporting hidden in the bumper of his tourism, more than 23 kilograms of hashish. The driver's attitude raised suspicions among the Prosecutor and Border agents, who decided to search the vehicle.

The events occurred at 16:25 p.m. on Saturday, February 18. A Patrol of the Dénia Civil Guard Prosecutor and Border Detachment was carrying out surveillance functions in the shipping area of ​​the Pansa dock, in the Port of Dénia, when they decided to verify the situation of a vehicle that at first sight induced to suspect the agents.

After identifying the driver and seeing that he was getting nervous, the agents decided to carry out a more exhaustive check, and a search of both the luggage and the vehicle. Reviewing the car, they discovered a home-made fiber box on the bottom, which communicated with the bumper. The agents, convinced that it was hiding some prohibited merchandise or some illegal substance inside, disassembled the bumper casings, finding 25 packages of hashish vacuum-packed and wrapped in a double plastic coating.

The driver, a 47-year-old man, was traveling alone and intended to embark for Eivissa (Balearic Islands). He has been arrested for a crime against public health for drug trafficking and has been made available to the investigating court number 1 of Dénia, which has ordered his admission to prison without bail.

The 25 packages of hashish and the vehicle used to commit the crime have been seized. The seized drug has yielded a weight of 23,196 kilograms, and has been sent to the competent Authority for analysis, remaining at the judicial disposal.

The Civil Guard's Prosecutor and Border units carry out permanent surveillance in ports and airports to fight against drug trafficking and illicit goods, smuggling and international networks of trafficking in people and illegal substances.
