The interdepartmental meeting that took place this morning has served for the Consell to take a great leap of confidence towards a sector banned during the pandemic: nightlife. The discos and music pubs will reopen, albeit with restrictions.
It is the first step towards an opening in almost total normality, as the president has pointed out, Ximo Puig, in his appearance after the interdepartmental meeting. The nightlife sector has been closed since August 2020 after the Valencian Community suffered the consequences of the second wave of the coronavirus. It was the sector to sacrifice after little more than a month of activity, and until now it had not been trusted enough to announce its reopening.
Now, with the current incidence of the coronavirus in the area and with the advancement of the vaccination process, the Generalitat is at the forefront of the majority of communities in the State, allowing the activity to discotheques. Of course, you must comply with capacity limitations similar to those of the hospitality industry, 50% indoors and 100% outdoors. In addition, the use of the dance floor is prohibited.
As for the closing time, it will be later than the one currently enjoyed by the hospitality industry. However, not as much as requested by the sector in the various meetings that had been held. These businesses, finally, must close at 2 in the morning.
This relief of restrictions, which will suppose a balloon of oxygen to a sector that has been severely affected, will take effect next Tuesday and is expected to last practically until the end of the month. Of course, Puig has made it clear in his appearance that the intention is that in July they can open almost completely normal to take advantage of the high season, as they did last summer with not very good results.
