Dénia returns to classes: «The new year begins with great enthusiasm, despite all the difficulties»

08 September 2021 - 09: 52

The new 2021-2022 academic year officially begins, another school year marked by the pandemic and that, therefore, maintains the security and prevention measures implemented last year with good results: the 'bubble groups' of stable coexistence in Infants, Primary and Special Education (also recommended, if possible, in the rest of the cycles); the safety distance between members of groups that do not live together; the mandatory mask for students aged 6 and over; and individualized contingency plans by centers.

Councilor for Education, Melani Ivars, gave the figures for the new course yesterday: in the schools and institutes of Dénia, La Xara and Jesús Pobre, 3.372 infant and primary boys and girls, and 1.772 secondary students, return to class this week.

To prepare the schools for the welcome, the City Council has worked during the summer on the maintenance actions requested by the centers. The painting of the façade of the Cervantes, the change of the parquet floor of the Les Vessanes gym and the music room of the Cervantes, the renovation of the floor, walls and lighting of the Children's classroom of Llebeig, the conditioning and painting of the Aula Natura del Montgó o the reform of the door of one of the Raquel Payá toilets to adapt it to the special needs of one of the students, are some examples of a list of more than 150 maintenance and improvement works of the schools assumed by the council.

Also, the councilor stressed that the City Council will also maintain this course the reinforcement of cleaning staff: a person 4 hours in the morning to insist on the disinfection of railings, toilets and other common elements.

The boys and girls who return to classes will also find, on the way to school, the new signage for pedestrian crossings adapted to people with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), already present in school areas.

"From the visit we made to all the centers, we left with a very good feeling. Management teams and teachers have everything ready and start the new year with great enthusiasm, despite all the difficulties," said Melani Ivars, who has wanted to send families a message of trust and also an appeal to "responsibility and prudence in the social and private sphere."
