Dénia receives the flags of Qualitur, becoming the Comunitat Valenciana in autonomy with more award-winning beaches

The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has highlighted that the Valencian Community is the autonomy with the most beaches awarded by Qualitur this 2019 thanks to the commitment of the Valencian Council to compete "through excellence and quality".

In the current season they have obtained the Qualitur flag, in addition to Dénia, the regional municipalities of Benissa, and Teulada. 62% of the Spanish beaches to which Qualitur has awarded its flag are Valencian, with a total of 176 distinctions, four more than in 2018. In addition, as the president recalled, the Valencian Community is also the autonomy with the most blue flags of the entire Spanish coast.

The head of the Consell, who has assisted in the Center of Tourism of Castelló to the delivery of the Qualitur flags to the municipal representatives of the beneficiary populations, has defended the importance of these awards to make visible "the quality of the Valencian beaches" and has ensured that they are "recognition for a job well done".

The president congratulated the municipalities present at the event, while reminding them of the importance of their role in the action of proximity, beyond the regional, state and European legislation in matters of costs.

"The sun and beach product is a fundamental product for us"said Puig, who recalled that the 14,6% of GDP and 15,1% of Valencian employment depend on this sector.

For this reason, it has encouraged coastal municipalities to "boost hospitality as a differentiating feature", as established by the Law on Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality, for "place our offer in excellence".

Likewise, he affirmed that the increase of the visitors in the Comunitat Valenciana advances "much more than in the whole of Spain", in the last four years of 6'2 to 9'2 millions of foreign visitors, figures that reach 30 million annual visitors between Spaniards and foreigners.

For his part, the regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, has stressed the need for Valencian beaches "are increasingly inclusive, accessible, hospitable and comfortable " as "necessary step to differentiate ourselves".

In addition, it has announced that the Valencian Community will also implement the quality seals in another product "important for differentiation" how are museums, to reward "quality tourism management" and turn them into "reference to multiply cultural tourism".
