Dénia receives from the Ministry of Education a subsidy of 63.400 euros to carry out extracurricular activities

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports has awarded the Dénia City Council a grant of 63.409 euros for educational support activities and other extracurricular, cultural and sports activities, aimed at its school population from 3 to 18 years old, with the aim of to offset the negative effects of confinement. According to the Councilor for Education, Melani Ivars, "The purpose of the scheduled activities is to contribute to the realization of free school activities and provide students with tools that enhance the cultural life of the municipality".

The municipal Department of Education, after consulting with the nursery, primary and secondary education centers of Dénia, La Xara and Jesús Pobre, the municipal departments of Parties, Library, Culture and Sports, local entities and companies organizing extracurricular activities in the city , prepared and presented a project of extracurricular activities to the call for subvention of the Ministry. Project that has now been approved and endowed with this aid of 63.409 euros.

The activities designed by Education are aimed at all compulsory education cycles - infant, primary and secondary - and will take place during the 2020/2021 academic year.

This week, after knowing the resolution of the Ministry, the Councilor for Education met with the management of all the schools and institutes of the city to start working on the activities that are going to be carried out. On the table there is a wide range of possibilities that includes, among others, dramatized visits to the castle, reading sessions in a natural environment, Valencian dance workshops, theater, excursions to the marine reserve, meetings with authors of children's and youth books, cinema and concerts.

Now, each educational center will express its preferences and a calendar of activities will be drawn up so that they can be carried out from next January.
