16 June 2020 - 12: 54

The Department of Equality and Inclusive Policies has announced this morning that the program's summer school will reopen in July Vacances per tots i totes despite the health crisis. As explained by the responsible mayor, Cristina Morera, the current situation has meant that, more than ever, it is important to bet on work and family reconciliation.

"We have seen the pros and cons, we have seen how other towns have closed their summer schools, but we are clear that this year has to be done, more than ever". With this determination, Morera has declared that they are aware of the situation but that for that same reason they have to strike a balance so that people can return to normality in their lives without this posing a health risk. In addition, the favorable situation of the Marina Alta, noting that if this had been another, they probably would have opted to close.

A summer school that will coexist with the health crisis

However, this is not the case, which is why in July the program that has been helping more than a decade for families to work with the security that their sons and daughters are learning in a safe environment returns. These types of schools with affordable prices help households to stay active during the summer season, but they are also a great benefit for children who, among other things, learn to socialize. Morera has insisted on this point, since after 3 months of confinement, forcing them for another 3 months, the summer months, to remain locked up could, according to studies, have negative repercussions on the mental health of children and adolescents.

But the City Council stresses that it will be a safe environment where all security measures will be followed to prevent it from becoming a focus of coronavirus infection. To begin with, the number of places has been reduced compared to previous years, which had up to 120, to offer this season 81. These, plus those of the monitors, will correspond to 75% of the total capacity of the spaces. In addition, the groups will be of only 9 students in totally separate classes, the temperature will be measured when entering the center, disinfectant gel and masks will be available and, also, the daily cleaning tasks will be intensified.

The school will be active from July 1 to August 31, and families can request the two months or only one. It will be taught at the Montgó school from 07:45 to 14:45 although from the consistory they bet that the entrances and exits are staggered to avoid crowds at the door.
