Dénia launches a new edition of 'Activitats en família'

The Dénia City Council launches, one more year, the ''Activitats en família'' program, which has been carried out continuously since 2003 with success.

The objectives of the initiative are, on the one hand, the programming of cultural, heritage and environmental activities of interest and, on the other, that families come up to share these activities and enjoy them together, making Sundays special days to enjoy the theater, music, cinema, dance, nature and the closest heritage.

A total of 29 activities have been scheduled for this year's edition that will take place between the months of October 2022 and June 2023, basically coinciding with the school year. All activities are free for participants, as in past editions, and are open to families and people from Dénia and the region, as well as all interested visitors.

The Department of Culture has organized 13 activities

This year the catalog of activities started last year continues, that is, theatre, dance, music, cinema in Valencian, walks and guided tours of our heritage and our history.

A total of 13 activities have been scheduled by the Department of Culture: theatrical performances, contemporary dance, traditional dance and music concerts, starring professional theater and dance companies for the programming of which they have the collaboration of the Valencian Circuit of Culture of the Generalitat Valenciana and the Diputación de Alicante.

Theatrical activities include the premiere of works by two companies from Dénia. On the one hand, Moni Poppins & Cia, which will present A Midsummer Night's Dream, an adaptation of William Shakespeare's play of the same name (November 27, 2022). And the Talante Teatro group, which in the performance of “Teatro en familia” will premiere the work by Lluís lo Sifoner Riu, Río, Río (March 26, 2023).

In addition, on October 23, after the scheduled theatrical performance, The delivery of the V City of Dénia Children's-Youth Narrative Award will take place, organized by the Dénia Public Library with Andana Editorial.

The musical performances will be performed, as usual, by local groups. Specifically, the Youth Band of the Dénia Musical Artistic Group, the students of the Tenor Cortis Conservatory and the Pandilla de Cántaro will perform. The Dianium Danza group also participates, with a dance in the street of the Marqués de Campo with the accompaniment of the 'dolçainer' Josep Alemany.

As for the guided tours 'Archaeology and landscapes', coordinated by the Archaeological Museum, five outings are planned with the following theme: The city of Dénia in the final moments of the Valencian leasehold law (October 9), Levantine rock art in the Catxupa cave (November 20); Dianium. The Roman city from the top of the castle (December 4th); the Fort and its walls (January 29); and coastal defense at the time of the Austrians. The watchtowers. Vase Tower (February 19),

The cinema will come from the hand of the Department of Linguistic Normalization, which has programmed three children's films in Valencian at the Social Center.

The walks and guided excursions through natural areas, nine in total, are coordinated by the Department of Ecological Transition and include visits to the Coll de Pous; the Pla de Petracos; Jesús Pobre, mills, ancient olive tree and Riurau market; the Xara, the pinaret and the forest of Benimaquia; Benimaurell; the Jarró tower, Las Planes and the port of Jávea; a Gata excursion in Jávea; a sensory walk through the Albarda garden and an excursion to the Marjal de Pego. For the diffusion of the 'Activities in family' campaign, and continuing with the line followed by Culture of working with professionals from Dénia and the region, this year the design of the brochure has been carried out by the cartoonist from Ondara Toni Ortolà.

As for the dissemination of the 'Family Activities' program, Culture will once again have the collaboration of Talante Teatro, which will tour the city's schools, reaching out to all boys and girls with the program of activities and inviting them to participate.
