15 July 2021 - 09: 39

The mayor of Dénia and Councilor for Tourism, Vicent Grimalt, accompanied by the department's technician, Pepa Cardona, participated this week in a work session in Ibiza with the mayor of the city, Rafa Ruiz, and the Councilor for Heritage, Pep Tur. The objective of the meeting was to share different promotional actions and establish connections in the tourist, gastronomic, sports and cultural fields.

This joint work is carried out with an eye to Next Generation European funds. The two administrations will work to present a joint scientific and environmental project related to posidonia.

In this same area, Ibiza presented to the mayor of Dénia the project "Viu la posidònia", a program of activities to raise awareness about the importance of oceanic posidonia meadows.

As for another topic of common interest, gastronomy, it is about the possibility of establishing a calendar where restaurateurs from the two cities participate in the gastronomic fairs of Ibiza and Dénia.

Likewise, the meeting addressed other possibilities of collaboration related to culture, sports and business cooperation.

The mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, recalled the importance that two cities "that are so close and united by the sea can do things in common. It is an obligation that we have, to work together, to stimulate cultural, sports and environmental projects that we will benefit both localities. "

For his part, Rafa Ruiz, the first mayor of Ibiza, has highlighted the cultural ties that unite the two municipalities, beyond the maritime connection; "Similar interests that bring us closer together and that we should take advantage of to empower our cities and build bridges that allow us to enjoy the respective heritage, gastronomy, culture and sport."
