2022 represented a new growth in terms of the number of inhabitants of the city of Dénia. It is true that the population has not skyrocketed, but this increase, albeit slight, of residents in the capital of the Marina Alta It has been enough to consolidate the municipality among the 20 with the most inhabitants in the Valencian Community.
According to the National Institute of Statistics, the population of Dénia has increased this year by 946 inhabitants, reaching a total of 43.899. A fairly high figure that, however, is lower than that of the current city census, which places the number at 47.817 as of January 5, 2023.
The number of inhabitants reached by Dénia this 2022 places it as the eighteenth largest population in the Valencian Community. It remains ahead of municipalities such as Burjassot (38.880) and Santa Pola (36.174), and just behind others such as Mislata (44.282) and Alzira (45.451).

These figures reflect the inhabitants throughout the year, but, as we well know, at times the population of Dénia quadruples due to the large number of second homes found in the city and the offers of tourist housing.
However, during the next decade we can experience a somewhat marked increase in the population of Dénia. Everything depends on the approval of the General Structural Plan that the City Council presented. Of course, growth was limited to 50.000 inhabitants. Be that as it may, for the moment there is still no response from the PGE from the Ministry, so these plans could be delayed until a document is prepared that meets each required criterion.
