Dénia begins to protect itself with Posidonia from the harsh winter storms

11 October 2022 - 12: 06

The Dénia City Council has started this week the work of lifting the Posidonia barrier in its beaches. It has started in the Marge Roig area and next week it will be extended to the next section of the Marineta Cassiana.

Some works that have already been carried out in previous years and that extend this 2022. And until 2023, since the intention is to maintain the natural wall until next May, with the aim of protecting the coast from erosion derived from the winter storms. Or autumn, like that stalks the shire right now.

How disgusting, it's not enough that the whole summer in the Marinetta Cassiana you couldn't even get into the water because of the algae barrier on the shore, which is now going to pile up even more... That rots, it smells terrible and if they try to remove it then it will there is mud underneath. It seems to me a huge disrespect not to have cleaned the beach even in summer with all the people who came.

It is a bad practice that they carry out every year and it does not give good results, when the storm comes that crap is distributed throughout the flooded area. It also produces a very bad smell, it smells like a sewer and you cannot walk and enjoy the beach because of the stench that this accumulation of decomposing algae gives off. The beaches of other tourist areas of the Valencian Community are better cared for, without accumulating that garbage, they invest and take care of their beaches. Mr. Mayor, invest and take care of our beaches, which between dog poop and rotten algae will lead Denia to routine.

  3. Carmen says:

I agree in winter but as long as you can bathe people are outrageous. Restaurants and shops in Denia will see a reduction in the influx of tourists and people who, without being from Denia, spend a large part of the year there. It is a pity that the most generalized comment is: what a dirty beach.

And the beach of Les Deveses is never protected and is left to be eaten by storms every winter
