The Councilor for Finance of the Dénia City Council, Paco Roselló, has reported on the settlement of the 2024 municipal budget, which closed with an initial surplus of €5.794.894,15. After applying the adjustments required by the European System of Accounts, the stability surplus amounts to €5.214.000, which will be used to repay debt, as required by current fiscal rules.
Roselló explained that the treasury surplus for general expenses amounts to €23.654.000, and noted that "we are awaiting circulars from the Ministry of Economy" to determine what types of financially sustainable investments this amount can be used for.
Regarding the council's nominal debt, it stands at €16.946.000, of which €9.677.000 has already been used during the 2024 financial year. The remaining €7 million will be repaid according to their respective maturities.
The council member attributed part of the surplus to lower spending in areas such as electricity supply, technical studies, advertising, and legal services, thanks to lower prices and the efficiency of the Dynamic Procurement System (DPS) in contracting municipal services.
Furthermore, he celebrated "the positive performance of revenue," highlighting that revenue from the construction tax (ICIO) exceeded expectations, reaching €2 million compared to the budgeted €1.970.000. There was also an improvement in revenue from planning permits (€1.050.000 compared to the forecast €950.000), and the share of state taxes rose from €14 million to €16,7 million.
For her part, the spokeswoman for the PSPV and Councilor for Territory, Maria Josep Ripoll, has provided an overview of this year's public works investments, indicating that the completion rate has reached 65%. Of the 37 planned projects, 24 have already been implemented, with 17 fully completed—such as the redevelopment of Sagunt Street or the installation of fountains in children's playgrounds—and another 7 currently underway.
Ripoll also detailed that other projects are in the process of being tendered or awarded, such as the Bosc de Diana park or the lighting of Nova Dénia, while some are in more initial stages, such as the paving of the Paseo de la Marineta CassianaDespite some delays, such as the one at the Bosc de Diana picnic area, he concluded that "the government team's level of compliance deserves a very good grade."
Finally, the deputy mayor and spokesperson for Compromís, Rafa Carrió, he wanted to emphasize that the financial results presented "are accounts, not stories." He explained that the budget has met the objectives of the strategic subsidy plan and the budget stability law, achieving a net surplus of €5,2 million and a debt that represents only 23,51% of the legal limit.
"Reducing debt from more than 32 million in 2014 to the current 17 million is both good management and savings," Carrió stated.
MCValbuena. Well, with so much leftovers they could finish the Cami de la Bota, which was left half-finished, and when they want to continue they will have to do it all over again. It's a shame having to go through an alley to get to the new hospital when the work had already started, and thank goodness now you go in and out by a different road, since before you had to go the same one. I think it's enough. Just like the sign they put up at the intersection of Avda de Gandía and Camino de la Bota, and it's not working. Gentlemen, you have to finish things you started.
Of course!!!! If you don't spend anything in the city
I encourage the citizens of Dénia to write against these mismanagements by the City Council.
Taxes are meant to benefit citizens.
If the managers don't know how to do it, they'd better resign and PRESENT elections.
Leave your offices and take a walk through areas of Dénia, a little far from Marques del Campo, and you will see that there are sidewalks, abandoned lots, weeds, etc., where you can spend those taxes.
Well, since we're "on the go": let's install lighting, pave (but properly, not patch, because after doing it there are still holes...), and get rid of the garbage (read all my petitions and complaints about how poorly it's done). The Abandoned Marinas. And then the photo and the news will be justified.
The surplus? From robbing us:
1 – To pay your politicians’ salaries (and the first thing you did was raise your salaries).
1 - To pay for your political mistakes without any consequences for you. And to roast and persecute the citizen.
