Dénia announces its programming for this October 9

The celebration of the 9 d'Octubre is presented in Dénia with a program focused on the Valencian identity and tradition. Dénia City Council, in collaboration with local and regional entities, has organized different activities with the enjoyment and participation of people of all ages in mind. Music, children's games, a cycle of conferences and guided tours of the heritage or a giant paella to share in the street are some of the proposals that we will find.

The scheduled activities will begin on Saturday, October 8 with the concert that the Dénia Musical Artistic Group will offer at 18:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Consell. Also on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9, the Dénia Stock Fair will be held on Calle de la Via.

On Sunday, October 9, at 10:30 a.m., the commemorative act of the Day of the Valencians will begin in the Plaza de Jaume I. The spokespersons of the municipal groups that make up the Corporation will intervene, Mr. Josep Ripoll, the PSPV-PSOE; Rafa Carrió, Compromís; María Mut, the Party; Susana Mut, from Citizens; and mario vidal, Gent of Dénia, and the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt. All accompanied by the performances of the Dénia Musical Art Group, Dianium Dansa, the group of dolçaina and tabal Canyà Badà and the Muixeranga of the Marina Alta.

The final climax will be the performance of the work Muixerangues to the sky by the Musical Artistic Group and Canya Badà and the dances of Dianium Dansa.

The music will continue playing on Sunday morning in the parade of Dianium Dansa, which will travel to the sound of the tabalet along the Paseo del Saladar until it reaches Sagunt street. Here, the Dianense formation will dance the pieces Benissa's two, Murla's jack y L'ú del Poble Nou de Benitatxell.

Later, at 14:00 p.m., the public will be able to taste the giant paella that will be cooked at the intersection of Patricio Ferrándiz and Sagunt streets.

In the afternoon, the activities will be concentrated in the area of ​​the Torrecremada park and esplanade. For the little ones, the activity “Kermés, traditional jocs en família” has been organized, starting at 17:00 p.m., in the park.

And at 19:00, the alzirenc group La Fúmiga will give a free admission concert on the esplanade.

The closing of this commemorative day will be put on by a fireworks display on the Torrecremada esplanade, which will begin at 20:45 p.m.

Understanding Dénia from its past

The program is completed with the offer of conferences and guided tours around Dénia and the Furs that the Archeology and Museums Area has organized.

The cycle begins today, Thursday, with the conference "Dénia i els Furs valencians" (19:30 p.m., Library) by Carmen Lázaro, professor of Roman Law at the Jaume I University of Castellón (UJI).

The Andalusian past of the region will be discussed next Sunday, October 2. The archaeologist Josep Marqués will conduct a guided tour and open-air conference to discover the Andalusian and Moorish settlement in the hisn de Pop. The meeting with the participants has been set for 9:30 am in the Benigembla cemetery.

There will also be room for a feminist perspective in the programming with the conference "La dona a Dénia i la Marina Alta als segles XIII-XV" on Thursday, October 6 at the Library. Pepa Sanz, a graduate in Geography and History and specialized in advanced research techniques, will be in charge of talking about the daily life of women, always linked to the laws, whether they were Islamic or Christian, of the territory in which they lived.

On Saturday, October 8, the open-air conference will be held with a guided tour on "Medina Daniya a les portes de la conquesta", where the art historian Jaume Sau will tour the walls of the Fortí in Dénia to explain the origin and importance of the archaeological heritage present in the city. The meeting point will be the Tourist Office and the time set for this departure is 10:30 am.

The set of conferences will have its final point on the day of the celebration of October 9. At 11:30 a.m., from the door of the castle, there will be a guided tour focused on the city of Dénia in the final moments of Valencian regional law. The historian Jaume Salort will take a tour of the places that witnessed the War of Succession.

All outdoor lecture tours require prior registration. This can be done calling the Ethnological Museum.
