Dénia is consolidating its position as the international headquarters of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) and will once again host the qualifying rounds of this prestigious world robotics tournament on June 7 at the Joan Fuster pavilionFollowing the success of the last edition, the Dénia City Council, through the Youth Department, reaffirms its commitment to innovation and technological education.
As a prelude to the competition, the Youth Department, together with Diverbot, has organised an introductory workshop to be held on Saturday 22 February, from 09:00 to 12:30, in the Youth building (Ronda Murallas, 42).
This workshop, aimed at young people between 10 and 18 years old, will offer a first contact with robotics through the use of Lego Spike and Lego Mindstorms. Participants will be able to experience a simulation of the WRO, facing challenges similar to those of the official competition, as well as receiving basic programming notions.
The aim of this initiative is to foster creativity, logical thinking and teamwork, essential skills in today's world. No prior knowledge is necessary, as learning will be guided and adapted to all levels.
Valen Alcala, councillor for the area, has stated that: “Robotics is not only a technological discipline with great future prospects, but also an educational tool that allows young people to develop skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and teamwork. With this initiative, we bring technological innovation to our city and reinforce our commitment to alternative leisure activities that contribute to the personal and academic growth of the youth of Dénia.”
