"Saying one thing and doing the opposite to attack"

OPINION | PP Denia

In the purest Pedro Sánchez style, I say one thing and then the opposite, the government led by Vicent Grimalt calls an urgent extraordinary plenary session to protest against the Generalitat Valenciana for the elimination of one of the two existing courses for the intermediate cycle of Guide in the Natural Environment and Leisure Time, but subsequently when it could apply for the qualification to occupy positions as civil servants of sports and leisure time monitor, it does not do so.

Juan Carlos Signes, councilor of Party, responsible for sports and environmental issues, has pointed out that "we are governed by two parties, PSPV and COMPROMIS, who, if they see an opportunity to attack the Popular Party and the Generalitat Valenciana, will rush in headfirst without the slightest hesitation. If, as part of the plan to optimize educational resources, it's proposed to eliminate a mid-level course for leisure time instructors, they don't care whether the arguments are true or not. The important thing is to attack the Generalitat and the Popular Party of Dénia.

What the governing team doesn't explain is that, for them, such a qualification doesn't exist. "The consolidation of 5 sports instructor positions was recently announced, and the minimum qualification required was a high school graduate. There's no trace of requesting the qualification they're now urgently advocating for. It would be logical for those positions to require at least a sports and leisure instructor qualification," the PP councilor noted. He added that "this way of acting is nothing new within the government led by the PSPV and COMPROMIS. Tourist information advisor positions also don't require any tourism-related qualifications, but that's certainly also the fault of the Pepa Font or the Popular Party, before admitting its poor management of the matter."

An ineffective local government, more interested in shifting blame onto the opposition than in introspecting and analyzing its shortcomings in managing the City Council. Pepa Font, spokesperson for the Popular Party, emphasized that "they have been in the local government for 10 years, the first 8 coinciding with the Botànic, but the blame lies with the opposition, or with the Valencian Government, governed by the Popular Party. We have already lost 9 million euros for the construction of the second senior citizen residence and day center, due to their slow management, delays in construction due to lack of oversight, and the inability to tender new projects, such as the New Raquel Payá."
