From former railway houses to social housing: the PSPV plan to achieve affordable rents

May 16 from 2023 - 17: 18

The candidate of PSPV-PSOE Dénia and current mayor of the city, Vicent Grimalt, has confirmed today a new proposal that will include the program for the elections on May 28 in terms of housing: «As we already have the General Structural Plan (PGE) approved, since last week, we can announce that we are going to ask the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda to initiate the necessary procedures so that the plot located between Manuel Lattur street and Joan Fuster avenue, the one with the old houses of the railway workers, is used for the construction of publicly-promoted housing.

The plot, with a surface area of 3.280 m2, is owned by the central government, specifically by Penitentiary Institutions, and in the PGE it is classified as urban land, predominantly for residential use.

"This week we will send the letter to Minister Sánchez Jiménez to request that she inform us of the procedures to be carried out for the construction of social housing on that plot," Grimalt announced.

This proposal is added to that of the creation of a public housing park of the Dénia Socialists program, to guarantee access to affordable rentals and of which the SAREB properties that Moncloa wants to dedicate to putting alternatives on the market could be part affordable housing.

Take advantage of that heritage as facilities of the sad "station", put shops, restaurants, services, promote the economy. Housing is very necessary in Denia, but with sense, not at any price. There are many places in Denia to build quality homes, these proposals seem useless to me. Think with your head, not with your wallet; politicians.

Yes of course! much better that any of the businessmen who have a monopoly in Dénia on restaurants and leisure benefit again, any of the business groups that do not let small businessmen breathe. If it's public land, wouldn't it be better to use it to build social housing? Sometimes just because of whoever proposes it, it is already considered a bad option! Let's think!!!!

      • Jesulin says:

OK; Build on any public land and destroy the entire city. Let them start tomorrow by making an esplanade where the castle is, everything was already building houses, or better, building a skyscraper on the castle's public land. Because in Denia you need housing and you have to do it on any public land (It's your logic without criteria).

On the other hand, the fact that an area has shops and services mainly and directly benefits its neighbors. Basically the goal is that. Trying to avoid the bedroom quarters. Shops, restaurants and services are examples to revive a really dead area without services, like most of Denia (Perhaps your neighborhood has so many services that this does not even occur to you).

A little constructive critical spirit, your message does not contribute anything. It is already known that in Denia there is a need for a public park and that is why I say that there are better places and lots dying of laughter, without having to destroy anything beforehand -as the socialists like to do in this case-, as they have done in Torrecremada, and a long etc; little by little destroying the Denia that only a few of us know.

I don't expect you to understand. Well, if a person thinks that a service benefits businessmen and not neighbors and users, that already tells me everything about the brain level. Sometimes only by the person who proposes it, it is already considered a good option! Let's think!!!!
