It is nothing new that in Dénia there are huge differences between the purchasing power of residents depending on the neighborhood in which they live. To some extent it is logical and it happens in all cities, with more exclusive areas to reside and reserved only for those people who can afford it. However, these economic borders are not limited only to the outskirts, as we might think, but there are great clashes between income within the urban area, with enormous inequalities between neighboring streets.
The National Institute of Statistics has published its Atlas of household income distribution, compiling information on the income received by families throughout 2020 and thus declared in the income statement campaign of last year. Thanks to this, we can find out how much the residents of each street in the country charge. Or, rather, we can know the income of the homes of the sections of each municipality.
The rich area of Dénia
What is the richest neighborhood in Dénia? We would quickly respond Les Rotesbut we would be wrong. Surprisingly, it is not the privileged southern coast of Dénia where the residents charge more, but rather they reside in the section that covers most of La Pedrera to Els Campusos, heading La Plana, Plana d'Elies, Plana Est, Santa Paula , Burrows Sud and Fredats. That is, the southwestern suburbs. The average household income in this district is €33.946,10.
It is true that the difference with respect to Les Rotes is barely perceptible, since in that neighborhood the rent is 33.633,51. Also very close are the other streets on the north face of the Montgó, all those between Campusos and Les Rotes, which have an average income of €33.509,53.
The next neighborhood with the highest household income is in the urban area. This is the port of Dénia, where families receive an average of €30.913,71. The center of Dénia, what would be Marqués de Campo and La Mar street, have a net income of 27.605,07 and the Faroleta-Diana neighborhood 25.843,63.
The neighborhoods with the least income
The rest of the neighborhoods of the urban area, as well as Marines, have income between €23102,3 and €25763,3. With the exception of two districts, which are the areas of Dénia with the lowest income per household. In the blocks between Patricio Ferrándiz and Paseo Saladar (which are, in turn, between Diana and Plaza Jaume I) revenues are €22.796,70. They are very similar between Carrer Sagunt and Avenida Montgó (the part between Plaza París and Avenida Alicante), whose income is 21.997,45. But the neighborhood where households earn the least is Oest-Campaments, with the average income remaining at 18.159,45.
