17 December 2020 - 00: 44

The spokesperson for Citizens in Dénia, Susana Mut, has made some statements about the situation at the Santa Lucía Residence and the strike that she had called: "Last Sunday afternoon, when the suspension of the nursing strike at the Santa Lucia Residence was announced, many users and relatives breathed easy, seeing the increase in cases of COVID that is occurring in the region and the high incidence in the nursing homes of the Valencian Community ".

“The situation at the Santa Lucia Residence could not afford a strike, and less so in the current pandemic situation, but the non-resounding government team has become a, okay, let's do it. Although some of the workers' requests will be difficult to carry out at this time, the initial lack of willingness to agree on the part of the government team has taken a 180º turn. Now it remains to be seen if due to the proximity of the strike or if they are really working to bring the agreements reached into reality ", Estefanía Schwamb, councilor responsible for the area of the elderly for Citizens in the City Council of Dénia has stated.

Schwamb has also highlighted that “After meeting with the strike committee and with the main workers' unions of the city council and in view of the final position of the government team, it would not have been necessary to rush until the day before the strike to reach an agreement. For this reason we are going to request to be part of the committee for monitoring the agreements adopted. It is the first time in this legislature that they listen to the people and have to back down from their impositions. Hopefully it is not a mirage caused by a strike, and in other important issues for citizens, do the same, as in the case of public transport ".

The spokesperson for Citizens in Dénia, Susana Mut, has indicated that “From our party we are working intensely for our elders and we will continue working to improve their lives. Just yesterday, in the Valencian Courts we achieved the approval of our proposal to include in the 2021 budgets the creation of more than 2000 new places in residences, with the aim of complying with the ratios recommended by the World Health Organization, currently below In the Valencian community. We have also managed to improve the salary conditions of workers in the elderly sector in 2021 with another of our proposals approved in Les Corts ”.

The mayor of Ciudadanos has claimed that "We have already got down to work with our colleagues in Les Corts, to ensure that the Santa Lucía de Dénia Residence obtains the much-desired and sought-after additional nursing position that it needs to complete its service capacity and that is part of the agreement that occupies us. We hope that the PSPV from Dénia know how to accompany us in this endeavor. Our elders deserve that we know how to park differences and work hard for those who have given us everything ”.
