Red Cross and Carrefour come together to reduce the economic impact of the beginning of the course

Red Cross Dénia and Carrefour de Dénia and Ondara supermarkets adhere to the project Back to school solidarity. It is an initiative that was born with the objective of reducing the economic impact of the start of the new course for thousands of families in social emergency and contributing to achieve an inclusive and quality education in line with the Sustainable Development Goal number 4 . Also to help empower these children on a date as significant as the beginning of the school year.

Aware of this, Carrefour starts this edition with the direct donation of 121.000 euros in school supplies. Resources with which it is estimated to be able to cover the needs in this area of ​​6.000 children in vulnerable situations throughout Spain. A starting point to which the contributions made by citizens in the framework of this campaign will be added.

The hypermarkets in the region participating in this collection campaign are Carrefour Dénia and Carrefour Ondara. Nationwide, more than 3.500 Red Cross volunteers will assist citizens who approach the tables installed at Carrefour centers to donate school supplies (notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, etc.). Subsequently, the different local Red Crosses will be in charge of distributing the donated school material, among the thousands of beneficiary families with minors in charge of each of the participating provinces.

In the last edition of the Vuelta a Cole Solidaria, the result of the direct donation made by the Company and the contributions made by the citizens, Carrefour Solidarity Foundation delivered school supplies worth 584.282 euros to the Red Cross. Amount that, it is estimated, served to cover the needs in this area of ​​more than 15.000 children in vulnerable situations throughout Spain.
