Continues the fight against weevil

06 July 2012 - 00: 05

762 274 palm trees and tons of dead trunk removed so far from 2012. That is the balance that has claimed the red palm weevil in Dénia. These figures are part of the disinfection campaign developed by the Department of Parks and Gardens, directed by Juan Carlos Signes, Which attempts to eliminate the greatest possible costs to owners of plots with palm trees, and that they should take over treatment. To that end, the session covered the € 140 that each individual must pay per ton in the composting plant.

Signes Tracsa announced that the company has suspended the free collection of dead trunks offered to prevent deposited on public roads. He added that the City continues with treatment, through parks and gardens, palm trees municipal property. A treatment that is performed 3 or 4 times a year, as required by Department, and in different areas populated with palm trees as the entrance of Denia, the Jaume I square, the Paseo del Saladar, etc.

From the Department of Environment of the City of Dénia is urged that people treat the palm trees they own in their plots and that, in this way, the problem of "so famous bug" is disappearing.
